About Us
MIssion Statement
The AIDS Fund is a private non-profit corporation whose purpose is to support and maintain the best quality of life for individuals infected and affected by HIV, and to reduce the overall incidence of HIV infection by providing education, information, HIV prevention, and support services to the general public especially those living with HIV/AIDS.
Our History
In 1983 when The AIDS Fund opened it's doors to the community, the outlook was grim for people diagnosed HIV positive. Our focus in those early days was on case management, respite support for family members and care givers and ultimately helping our clients die with dignity.
As advances are made in the fight against HIV/AIDS, so does The AIDS Fund's focus. Today we support individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS and give them hope for a brighter future. The AIDS Fund continually adds new programs and services to reflect the changing needs of our clients and their families.
In January 2010, The Williamsburg AIDS Network, (WAN) joined The AIDS Fund Family. Operating under the umbrella of The AIDS Fund will lower administrative costs and create greater accountability for the Williamsburg office. The Tidewater AIDS Community Taskforce, (TACT) and the Peninsula AIDS Community Taskforce, (PACT) currently operate under the umbrella of The AIDS Fund, Inc. The WAN name and unique place in Williamsburg institution will remain.
Employees of The AIDS Fund volunteer within the community and around the world because we care.
